Scandic Hotels a Top Sustainable Brand
Scandic Hotels continues to climb closer to the top of the corporate sustainability index. In Sweden, it was the number one hotel for the ninth year in a row, ranking 18 out of 355 brands.
Scandic Hotels has launched a few sustainability initiatives through its Sustainability Hackathon brainstorming event involving all key team members. Continual improvements are attributed to a 18,000 strong work force who drives sustainability forward every day.
Scandic has eliminated all plastic straws, cocktail sticks and coffee lids. It has stopped serving cage eggs and has introduced a plant-based burger to its menus. Food waste has been reduced by optimizing the meal chain from purchasing to preparation and serving. This has led to partnerships with Too Good To Go and Karma, resulting in 150,000 portions of leftover food being sold on digital platforms instead of being thrown out.
